Isaac Horsfall-Sutton – Adelaide District Cricket Club
Adelaide under 14 red leg-spinner Isaac Horsfall-Sutton is the round four ‘Junior Player of the Round’ after his match winning performance in his side’s victory over Tea Tree Gully. Horsfall-Sutton was dominant with the ball knocking over the first five Bulls batsmen in a brilliant spell of spin bowling finishing with 5/10 off five overs.
Adelaide won the toss and elected to bat first, getting off to a dazzling start thanks to openers Thomas Van Jaarsveldt (54) and Jett Raphael (44) who combined for a 93-run opening stand before Kane Halfpenny (1/28) struck to remove Van Jaarsveldt and then sensationally run out Raphael. That was the last of the Adelaide wickets to fall as William Patton (46*) and Tejas Gill (44*) continued the flow of runs as the Buffalos finished their 40 overs on 2/206.
In reply, the Tea Tree Gully innings got off to a positive start thanks to Jack Bussenschutt (24) and Caleb Crook (23) putting on 55 for the first wicket. Horsfall-Sutton came on and changed the game claiming five out of the first six wickets in a match-winning spell leaving the Bulls in trouble at 6/103. The Tea Tree Gully innings was unable to recover despite a late cameo from Nicholas Collins (25*) as they finished their 40 overs on 8/131, 75 runs short of victory.
This match was Horsfall-Sutton’s under 14 red debut in his first year of SACA Premier Cricket after joining Adelaide from Unley Cricket Club. Horsfall-Sutton will be automatically included in the Junior Team of the Year and will be invited to attend a function at Adelaide Oval at the end of the season, acknowledging him and other nominees, of their outstanding performances over the season.
