Mason Pitt – Prospect District Cricket Club
Prospect under 14 Red opener and wicket-keeper Mason Pitt is the round three ‘Junior Player of the Round’ after his brilliant performance in his side’s victory over Tea Tree Gully. Pitt was a major factor in the Pirates’ big score, belting 20 boundaries on his way to an unbeaten 103.
Prospect won the toss and elected to bat with Pitt and opening partner Mackenzie Forbes (24) scoring 58 for the opening wicket. The Pirates soon lost two quick wickets to Kane Halfpenny (1/41) and Damon Pitt (1/34) bringing captain Connor Kent (94*) to join Forbes at the crease. The two made light work of the Bulls attack amassing a massive 180-run partnership to lead Prospect to 2/245 at the close of their 60 overs with Kent falling six short of his century.
In reply, the Tea Tree Gully innings never got going with the Prospect bowlers, led by Kent (2/20), having the Bulls in trouble at 4/92. The only resistance came from Jack Bussenschutt (39) and Dhrumil Soni (26) before Lachlan Croser ripped through the rest of the batting order, claiming 4/34 from 11 overs. Pitt was also tidy behind the stumps claiming one catch, two stumpings and only conceding five byes to add to his first innings century.
Pitt will be automatically included in the Junior Team of the Year and will be invited to attend a function at Adelaide Oval at the end of the season, acknowledging him and other nominees, of their outstanding performances over the season.
